Is it rude to reply all to a company-wide email?

Guilty

The short answer

Yes, unless everyone on the list needs your answer. A thank you belongs in a direct reply.

The ruling

From the public record. Names are replaced with roles.

Just for fun. Written by a computer judge. Not a real court, not legal advice, no legal effect.

How the court usually rules on this

The court reads reply all strictly. It is justified when the whole list needs the information. It is not justified for thanks, agreement or "please remove me from this list", which the court notes always causes more replies. The sentence usually concerns future emails, not the past one.
