Is it rude to text the group chat late at night?

Both at fault

The short answer

Sending messages late is usually fine, because each person controls their own notifications. Thirty in a row at 2 in the morning is still a lot.

How the court usually rules on this

The court generally places the duty on the receiver, who can silence a phone at night. That rule has limits: a long burst of messages in the small hours is inconsiderate even in a chat that is easy to mute. Replying in annoyance to the whole group at that hour adds to the noise. These cases usually end with both sides at fault and a quieter week.
